I thought I was prepared. As a woman who feared a dystopian future, I decided to get an IUD shortly after the events of November 8, 2016. I had been warned that the insertion would be a “little pinch,” but it turned out to be the most excruciating pain I’d ever experienced. For days afterward, I felt unwell and crampy.
