Although social media has become a dangerous and toxic place, it can also be a great tool in many moments of life. This was the case of Annie Gallagher, a mother who saved her daughter’s life after seeing a very important tip on Facebook.

Annie, a mother of three and living in Florida, in the United States, told in an emotional story that one of her children started to feel sick after jumping into a pool and swallowing a lot of water. The little girl got better quickly, but things started to get worse during the night when the 5-year-old began to cough a lot. She then remembered that she had seen a video on the Facebook app about dry drowning.
“It happened in the blink of an eye, we were in the pool and she jumped off the edge. We got out of the water and she was coughing. She is and always has been a strong swimmer, since she was raised in the water. She inhaled water when she jumped, but she seemed fine and wanted to go back to playing,” she said.
“Honestly, my first instinct was to send her back to her room for a good night’s sleep because I was still up cleaning the house for the next day. But something in my gut said, ‘Don’t do that.’ I remembered an article I read on Facebook before my daughter was even born about dry drowning. I called friends for advice, and they tried to ease my concerns,” she said.
