The initiative, called “The Store,” was launched in 2020, with the aim of supporting the local community at a time of great challenges, such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the tornadoes that hit the region. The expansion of the store was always part of the couple’s plans, and they will now invest US$ 5 million (approximately R$ 30 million) in the construction of the new market, with the support of businesspeople.
The new space will offer foods such as dairy products, grains, fruits and vegetables, as well as emergency clothing and support services such as psychological consultations and medical services. Currently, more than 200 families have already pre-registered to use the new store.
The idea is to create an environment that replicates the experience of a traditional supermarket, with shopping carts and volunteers acting as employees. According to Brad Paisley, the goal is to ensure that the families served feel dignity and respect during the process, avoiding the feeling of dependence in times of difficulty.
