Still, she decided to turn her pain into something positive. With everything paid for, including a $46,000 party, Lindsay chose not to cancel the event. Instead, she renamed the event her “celebration of freedom.”

Lindsay communicated with her guests on Facebook, explaining the situation and confirming that the party would go ahead. On August 17, 60 people attended the reception, which featured a DJ and bongo drummers. Three days later, she flew off on her planned honeymoon, accompanied by her friend Melissa, who supported her through the turmoil.

Lindsay and her ex-fiancé had been together since 2012, and the two had been engaged since 2020. The affair, discovered days before the wedding, came as a shock to the lawyer. “I didn’t know how I was going to survive. I was distraught. All that money had been spent,” she told the NY Post.

After a night of tears and conversations with friends, Lindsay decided to reframe the moment. With the help of her sister Beth, 28, she transformed the wedding day into a celebration of her new phase in life. “There was a big part of me that was like, ‘I’m free,’ this is the beginning of a better era. I’m glad I did it — I really enjoyed the day,” she said.

The support of her friends and family was crucial to getting her through the moment. “I was so surprised by everyone’s support, it was so empowering. I was surrounded by so much love, and it really reminded me that I didn’t need it. I felt a little bit better,” she concluded.
