Democratic Party activist and content creator Isaiah Martin thanked Brazil on social media Wednesday, Nov. 4, after Democrats won majorities in both the Senate and the House of Representatives in the U.S. midterm elections. Martin said Brazil had shown the party the way.
In his post, Martin wrote, “Thank you, Brazil, for showing us the way,” followed by a celebratory “Explodeeeee!” The post came a day after voters went to the polls on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
The election dealt a major setback to President Donald Trump, who lost the governing majority in Congress, according to the report.
Martin’s use of “Explodeeeee” echoed a catchphrase associated with André Janones, a federal lawmaker affiliated with Rede in Minas Gerais. Janones coordinates the WhatsApp channel “Lula’s Army,” which mobilized supporters of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in a social media campaign.
