In his first interview since leaving Brazil for the United States, Brazilian Sen. Flávio Bolsonaro said he believes he will be imprisoned. The New York Times published his remarks Thursday, Nov. 5.

Asked about investigations against him in Brazil, Bolsonaro said he already knew that prison would be the final outcome. He is the son of former President Jair Bolsonaro.

In the interview, Flávio Bolsonaro denied receiving help to leave Brazil on Oct. 27 and said he had planned the trip himself. “It was all my doing,” he told the newspaper, adding that no one and no government had helped him.

That denial contrasts with information about U.S. involvement in the trip. White House communications adviser Jason Miller said he arranged the jet used by the senator, and the Trump administration had confirmed U.S. participation in the flight.
