Binance co-founder and co-CEO Yi He announced Saturday, Nov. 7, 2026, that Chief Financial Officer Kaiser Ng is leaving the cryptocurrency exchange. His departure comes days after hackers stole $6.3 billion in assets from the platform, according to the company.
“Kaiser Ng has decided to pursue a new path after more than five years at Binance, with a transition plan put in place over the past six months,” Yi He said in a statement. The announcement did not say when Ng’s departure would take effect.
Binance, described in the report as the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, said an initial investigation suggests the incident may have involved the compromise of a team engineer’s laptop. The company said that access may have enabled an intruder to make unauthorized withdrawals. The reported theft took place in 20 minutes.
The attack was initially attributed to a North Korean hacking group, but North Korea denies involvement. Binance said it would cover all losses using funds from its Secure Asset Fund for Users, or SAFU, as well as its own resources. The exchange established SAFU as an emergency reserve to protect customer assets in extreme situations, including security failures and cyberattacks.
