Eduardo Bolsonaro, a former federal deputy whose mandate was revoked, praised President Donald Trump on Sunday, Nov. 1, after Trump said the previous day that he had no plans to meet with Senator Flávio Bolsonaro and called Brazil’s election “a disgrace.” Eduardo said he considered Trump’s position that of a “born leader.”
In a video posted on X, Eduardo thanked Trump for what he described as a clear view of Brazil’s situation. In a separate post, he wrote that Brazil was no longer a democracy and that the world would increasingly recognize that. He also questioned the presidential election that returned President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to office and challenged the legitimacy of Flávio’s defeat.
Eduardo, who has been living in self-imposed exile in the United States since March 2025, also criticized a Federal Police notice to Flávio. The notice followed an order from Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes directing Flávio to surrender his passports.
“Seven minutes after the official result was published, there was a request to seize his passport,” Eduardo said. He added that federal police delivered the notice to Flávio while he was visiting their father, who is under house arrest.
